For Video Editors stuck at $1k-3k per month

Land a $2,000 a month editing client in the next 60 days

I've landed over 50+ retainer clients ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 a month, including $14,000 from one client paid upfront, using the One-of-One Method.

7+ years. Retainers at $1,500, $2,000, $3,000, all the way up to $5,000 a month. The $14,000 came from one Zoom call, paid on the call. None of it came from an audience. All of it came from one strategy.

You're not getting outworked. You're getting compared.

Let me guess. You do the outreach. You get a few replies. And then you get hired for a free test gig, so they can put you next to the other editors they're thinking about.

So you put the work in. You make something genuinely good. And nine times out of ten, they ghost you. I've had that happen more times than I'd like to admit.

Then occasionally you land one, and it turns out to be thirty bucks here, fifty bucks there, and no idea when the next video is coming.

No consistency. No reliability. Lots of stress.

And now, clients think editing got easy, so they're paying like it did. They assume you're running it through AI anyway, which isn't true, because AI still isn't close to as good at this as people think.

So every month starts from scratch, with the hope that something finally comes together. But it never does.

5 reasons editors stay stuck at $2-3k a month. And none of them are about editing.

Every one of them is the logical thing to do. It's what everyone teaches. It's what I did for years, and each one makes complete sense. But it leads nowhere.

One honest question: how many of the five did you just recognize in your own strategy?

That recognition is exactly what the workshop is there to fix.

Fix these five and you stop trying to be the best option. You become the only one they'd want to hire.

The idea that took me 7 years to master

You don't win as a video editor in 2026 by being the best option. You win by refusing to be an option.

Here's a story I heard six years ago when I was first getting started, and I've never forgotten it. It's true.

There's a famous violinist called Joshua Bell. In 2007 they ran an experiment. Bell stood next to a trash can inside the Metro station in Washington DC during morning rush hour and played six of his classical masterpieces.

1,097 people walked past him. Seven stopped to listen for a minute or more. One person recognised who he was. He made $32.17.

Two days later he played those exact same pieces to a sold out theater in Boston, where a standard seat went for around $100.

And in that subway station, he was playing them on a handcrafted violin worth three and a half million dollars.

The difference between $32 in a subway station and a sold out Boston theater grossing $260,000 came down to one single thing. Positioning.

Nothing about him changed. Not the skill, not the instrument, not the songs. Only where he was standing and what that said about him before he played a note.

I spent years bouncing between different ways of finding clients, thinking the last one didn't work. It wasn't the channels. It was how I was positioned inside them.

Same effort, two completely different editors

It isn't more work. It's the position you're in when they meet you.

Positioned as an option

Thirty bucks here. Fifty there.

You do the outreach. You get a reply. You get asked for a free test gig so they can compare you. You make something good and they ghost you. Once in a while one lands, and it's a one-off, and you've no idea when the next video is coming.

Positioned as one of one

$1,000, $2,000, sometimes $3,000 a month.

You start a conversation. You hop on a quick call. You close a monthly retainer right there. No test gig, no audition, no haggling, because there's nobody to put next to you.

Same amount of outreach. Same amount of effort. Same skill. The only thing that changed is the position.

What you get.

Who this is for.

Come if

  • You edit, and someone has already paid you to do it. Any amount, any channel.
  • You're somewhere around $1k to $3k a month and it isn't moving.
  • You've got a portfolio, even a small one.
  • You'll actually show up and put in the work for 60 days.
  • You've got a number you're chasing, not a vague want for more clients.

Don't come if

  • Nobody has ever paid you to edit. Come back when someone has.
  • You need money next week. This is a 60 day process and it won't save you if you're drowning.
  • You're already at $5k to $10k a month and it's consistent.
  • You want clients handed to you. There are reps in this and there's no way around them.

I'd rather you keep the $49 than sit in a room that wasn't meant for you.

Who's running this

Logan Lessar

I'm Logan. Seven years ago I went all in on freelancing and, like everyone does, I was terrible at landing clients. Over about a year I put together the way of doing it that I still use, and grew that into an agency doing over $30k a month. It's what let me live in Cape Town, London, and now Bali.

Then I made the mistake of bouncing around. Different models, shiny objects, drifting away from the thing that was already working to go looking for something better.

A year ago I was back in Cape Town, had just quit a sales job, no income, starting from scratch, with about $3,000 a month in expenses I had to cover immediately. A friend called me out of the blue and said something obvious that I'd somehow stopped seeing: you already know how to land clients, you did it for years, so go do that again.

I started that day. Landed a $1,500 a month client inside two weeks. That one stayed over a year and grew to $3,500 a month. Inside three months I was past $5,000 a month.

I've spent over $30,000 on courses, mentorships, masterminds and coaching to get this right. And honestly, the reason I've been able to make it work is that I can't stand blending in. That comes from racing motocross. Being one of one is the only way I've ever wanted to do anything.

Questions.

What if I can't make it live?
You get the replay and it's yours to keep. Come live if you can, though. I take questions the whole way through and answer them in the chat, and you can't ask a replay anything.
Is this going to be a pitch?
At the end I'll tell you about the one-on-one I run, because some people want help doing this instead of doing it alone. But you're getting the actual thing on the call, plus the tool and my systems, not a trailer for something else. Take it and run it yourself and you'll have everything you need.
I'm not a salesperson and I hate being on camera.
Honestly, once you're positioned right there isn't much selling left to do. That's the whole point. I get on a call and instead of convincing anyone, we just talk about what working together looks like. I say my price, and if they can afford it we start.
Do I need an audience or a following?
No. Zero cold outreach, no audience required. Content makes this faster and I'll explain exactly why, but nothing in the method waits on followers.
Does this only work in one place?
I'll show you exactly where I do it and exactly how, and it's one of the most saturated, price-competitive corners of the market there is. That's the point. If it holds up there it holds up where you're already looking for work, and I'll show you how to move it across.
I've bought stuff like this before and it didn't do anything.
Most of it teaches you how to place higher on the same list. Better message, better reel, better rate. This is about not being on the list at all, which takes different moves. And if you sit through it and disagree, one sentence to me and you get the $49 back.
I've never been paid to edit. Can I come?
Keep your $49 for now. This starts from someone having already been paid for the work at least once. Without that I'd be teaching you something else entirely, and you'd be disappointed.

The longer you stay an option, the more time you're wasting and the more money you're losing on clients you never landed.

Fix one of the five and it might get you an extra client every couple of months. Fix three, four, all five, and you've got something that keeps producing them.

You turn yourself from an option into the only choice. And then you've got a business. One that can move you to any city you want, let you take care of your parents, change what you're able to do for the people around you.

Perception is reality. Change how you're perceived and you upgrade your reality.

Monday night. $49. And you can have it back.
